Signs that You Need Water Heater Repair

water-heater-repairNo one wants to have to repair their water heater. It’s something you probably never even think about. But when something happens to cause you trouble with your water heater, it becomes apparent immediately. Look for these signs that you need water heater repair to catch minor problems before they become major. Throughout Salt Lake City, we offer comprehensive water heater repair for both tank and tankless systems!

Water Heater Repair Indicators

Water heater leaks are one of the most visible and obvious signs of a water heater losing its effectiveness. If your water tastes metallic or appears rusty, your water heater may be to blame. And if your water heater makes noises, looks corroded, or is very old, it may need repair.

Water Heater Leaks

If your water heater begins leaking, it’s safe to assume that it needs repairing. Leaks usually indicate a problem with the inner tank. Even a slow drip can become a larger problem almost overnight. Considering this can lead to rapid flooding, it’s a good idea to seek water heater repair right away if you spot a leak.

Metallic-Tasting Water

If your hot water has a metallic taste and smell, you may need water heater repair. The smell is caused by bits of metal flaking off from the inner tank. These tiny metal particulates mix with water running through the tank and cause your hot water to be tainted. This can also be a potential health hazard and should be addressed immediately. Similarly, if your hot water has a rusty color, the tank could also be damaged.

You Haven’t Thought about It in Years

The average lifespan of a water heater is approximately 10 to 15 years. If you don’t have a clue how old your water heater is, or you know for certain it’s at least 15 years old, chances are you need water heater repair, even if there are no visible signs of damage.

Cooler Water

If your water no longer runs hot but instead only runs warm or average temperature, your water heater probably isn’t working right. The heating element might be on the verge of burnout. To test this, set your water heater thermostat to a temperature between 120 and 140 degrees.

Strange Noises

You shouldn’t be able to hear your water heater. If it creates loud noises while running, this could mean the heating elements have been damaged.

Visible Corrosion

When regularly maintained, water heaters resist corrosion for the majority of their time in use. If you can see corrosion developing on your water heater, it’s safe to say you need water heater repair. Sometimes, you may even need to replace your water heater entirely.

Remember These Indicators of the Need for Water Heater Repair

Water heaters that are leaking or corroding certainly need repairing. If your water is not hot enough, this is also likely a sign of something not working correctly. And if your water tastes metallic or looks rusty, your water heater may be to blame.

During this very unusual time, we have put a plan in place to do our part to help keep our community safe. First and foremost, we are going to stay CALM, PATIENT, KIND, and POSITIVE!

There is much to consider regarding the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) and its possible transmission in your home. While there are various and effective indoor air quality measures available to help protect your safety, including duct sanitization, ultraviolet (UV) germicidal light treatment, and HEPA air filters, they alone cannot protect from all forms of COVID-19 transmission. It is important to follow all official guidelines for preventing the spread of this virus.

Because we have a direct impact on the indoor environment, here are practical steps we are going to take to keep people safe:

  • Wash our hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water
  • Cover our nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing
  • Wash our uniforms every day including cleaning our belts
  • Stay home if we are feeling sick
  • Offer a warm smile and friendly greeting instead of a handshake
  • Wear shoe covers and latex gloves in homes and businesses
  • Wipe down surfaces and equipment touched in a client’s home with disinfectant wipes
  • Wipe down door handles, steering wheels, gear shift lever every day
  • Wipe down pens, clipboards, tablets, cell phones, and anything else passes between techs and clients.
  • We have masks on each truck and will wear them at client’s discretion (Currently the CDC does not recommend that people wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19)
  • We are complying with all recommendations and guidelines from state agencies and will be proactive in our efforts to see that our team members and clients are protected.

As the situation unfolds, we will take each day one at a time and ensure we are being smart, supportive, and helping all those we can in our community.

Thank you for your continued support!
